An Involuntary Patient is going on leave (Absence with leave) the act states

Answer:

Yes, permission for leave must be given in writing. Services can develop their own template, which may include a duplicate for patient’s notes. Permission for leave may be done in the form of a letter as suggested, but good practice would require a record in the patients note also.
