Question:
Is there any defintion or reference to 'escorts'in the 2001 Act? Have the provisions of the 1945/1961 Acts been repealed in this regard?

Answer:

There is no definition of escorts in the Mental Health Act, 2001. The provisions of the 1945/1961 Act regarding escorts have been appealed.

The Mental Health Act, 2001 Sections: 13 and 27 refer to staff of the approved centre assisting in removing/returning a person to an approved centre. This procedure is referred to as an assisted admission. The HSE has put procedures in place to provide for this service.
